Felt Snowdrops in Terracotta Pot
A little winter hope, in felt.
The first snowdrops of the year, nodding their heads above a cushion of soft green moss. Every petal is cut by hand, one at a time, then shaped and gathered into delicate drooping blooms that look as though they've just pushed up through the frost.
They come planted in a classic 8cm terracotta pot with a natural moss topping, ready for a windowsill, mantelpiece or bedside table. They never need watering, and they never wilt, so a little early spring stays with you all year.
Each pot is made by hand at my workbench aboard Willow, the narrowboat that is both my home and my studio. Mornings on the canal in late winter are all pale light and quiet water, and I hope some of that stillness finds its way into the felt.
